ABOUT SARA DHOOMA

Sara Dhooma’s hiker nickname of “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” perfectly describes this fearless, globe-trotting adventurer.  She has travel backpacked in 80 countries, camped on all seven continents, and strives to explore the most amazing landscapes on earth.

Sara has completed several world-class treks including Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Everest Base Camp (Nepal), and the Milford Track (New Zealand).  Her adventurous spirit has also led her to tackle lesser-known hiking trails such as the Kalawa Hill Tribes (Myanmar), Ciudad Perdida (Colombia), Chilbo Mountains (North Korea), and Dientes de Navarino (Chile)..  As a Peregrina, Sara has walked thousands of miles on several ‘Camino de Santiago’ pilgrimage routes in Europe.

Her first big American long-distance trail experience was a 1,500-mile section on the Appalachian Trail in 2014.  She spent six epic months hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2018.  In 2019, she trekked most of the Continental Divide Trail but was unable to complete due to the heavy snow year.

Sara is a proud Canadian multi-ethnic hiker of East Indian and European descent from Kitchener, Ontario.  After a life-threatening pulmonary embolism, she left her office job in August 2017 to complete her hiking bucket list.  Sara will continue to adventure around the world when the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions lift.  You may follow her journey on her Youtube Channel, which also showcases her affinity for craft beer and kooky bridge-dancing.
